SU Series Ultrasonic Web Guide Edge Sensor

Re USA Ultrasonic Web Guide Edge Sensors

The “SU” ultrasonic web guide edge sensor is used in web guiding systems to detect the edge of the material being processed. This type of sensor can be used on any material that will reflect sound (such as paper, cardboard, or plastic film), regardless of color or transparency.

Equipped with two ultrasonic capsules, the transmitter generates a sequence of ultrasonic waves that are received by the sensor. Based on the intensity of the received signal, the microprocessor determines the portion of the sensitive area covered by the material, precisely calculating the material edge position within the fork. As the web moves away from the desired position, the sensor signals the controller so it can instruct the guiding device to make the needed correction.

There are different versions of SU ultrasonic web guide edge sensors. Fork width ranges from 1″ to 4″, with a reading range from .24″ to .87″ and a resolution down to .0004″. For working environments that require resistance to dust and/or water splashing, some models feature an IP54 protection class. There are also versions designed for noisy environments.

For easy calibration and management, the SU-M and SU-FAST versions come with an integrated keypad and LED-bar, simplifying interaction with the system.

Using two sensors simultaneously allows for center guiding via remote control, further improving alignment accuracy.

In a complete web guiding system, sensors work with MWG22MWG10.1, SmartMotion technology and the WLigo display, and mechanical frames such as WG offset pivoting framesWR steering rollers, and AT linear actuators to maintain web alignment during production.

SU ultrasonic web guide edge sensors can be mounted on manual sensor holders, manual holders with micrometric adjustments, or automatic holders.
