CK series through-shaft load cells mount at the end of a live shaft measuring roller to detect web tension. They use an integral bearing to allow the roller to spin. As with flange style load cells, these through-shaft load cells precisely detect forces generated by pulling the web material over the roller at known winding angles. The load cell translates this force into an electrical signal which is sent to a tension controller. These load cells can be used in any unwinding, rewinding, or intermediate web process.

Thanks to their through-hole design, CK load cells can be installed in tight spaces. They allow the journal of the live shaft roller to pass through without taking up extra space beyond the roller journal. The load cells are accurate and reliable, providing constant and consistent force detection.

CK load cells are available in single or double flexure configurations and in either aluminum or steel. Load capacities range from 56 to 6,744 lbs-force (250 N to 30,000 N). We can also provide specialized versions of CK load cells, like the CKF.125 which features a unique dual fastening system (3 or 4 holes).

Integrated strain gauge technology, arranged in a Wheatstone bridge configuration, converts mechanical movement into an electrical signal. This signal is then amplified and sent to a tension controller to enable immediate, real-time web tension control.
