SmartMotion is an advanced web guiding controller designed for small to medium-sized web guiding systems. By integrating both the stepper motor and control unit driver into a single device, the system simplifies installation, reduces wiring, and enables efficient system management, including control of multiple actuators from a single WLigo interface.

With the combination of SmartMotion and the WLigo display, the actuator stroke can be calculated and controlled without the need for additional tools, improving reliability while reducing system complexity. The stepper motor operates with 1/16 micro-stepping, ensuring smooth, precise, and quiet actuator movement.

SmartMotion’s control logic is engineered to maintain a high dissipation range, ensuring consistent and low operating temperatures to prevent overheating and enhance the system’s overall lifespan.

This web guiding controller supports fieldbus connectivity and is compatible with ProfiNET or EtherCAT protocols (optional), enabling seamless integration with PLCs for centralized system control.

The WLigo display is ideal for applications that require controlling multiple web guiding systems within the same plant. With a single remote keyboard, all parameters of each connected system can be managed and adjusted. The 3.5” resistive touchscreen display and three physical buttons provide easy and quick control of all settings. The WLigo keyboard is available with a cable gland positioned either on the back or bottom, depending on installation needs.

In a web guiding system, the SmartMotion web guide control unit receives signals from any type of Re sensor (ultrasonic, infrared, optical) and compares them with a pre-set operator value. It then sends a correction signal to a physical actuator (such as linear actuators, pivoting frames, or steering rollers) to ensure precise, stable, and consistent web material positioning.
