The Aries potentiometer is used in web tension control systems for applications using a dancer roller. The potentiometer is mechanically linked to the pivot arm of the dancer roller. As the dancer roll moves up and down, the potentiometer rotates, changing its electrical resistance. This change in resistance creates a varying voltage signal which is sent to a tension controller (or PLC). The controller interprets the feedback signal and sends a corresponding signal to the brake so it can adjust accordingly to maintain consistent web tension.
