Expanding Core Shafts and Safety Chucks

Re provides a complete line of expanding strip shafts and lug shafts, as well as differential rewind shafts (friction shafts), for shaft-supported unwind and rewind stations on any web processing machine. Slide-on adapters are also available in cases where multiple core sizes are used. Re core shafts are manufactured in aluminum or steel to suit application conditions. Complementary sliding or tilting safety chucks are also available to support the shaft on both ends.

Core Shafts

Re expanding strip shafts are available in aluminum or steel, in sizes ranging from ¾” to 12”. Air, introduced through a valve, inflates the bladder to force the gripping elements to expand and grip the inner diameter of the roll core.

Available in strip style and rubber bladder models, pneumatic adapters are the most economical solution to adjust an existing core shaft to a larger core diameter. Mounting and dismounting takes just a few seconds, saving time and the cost of a new expanding shaft.

Re friction shafts are the ideal solution for independent winding of multiple rolls on the same shaft. Rewinding rolls lock onto one or multiple rings to obtain equal tension at separate winding speeds, compensating for variations in web thickness.

Safety Chucks - Core Shafts Safety Chucks

Safety chucks support expanding shafts while ensuring operator safety. The chucks only open in the upright position using a manual push button, so shafts can only be removed when intended. Additionally, a safety mechanism forces the chuck to close and lock automatically when the shaft starts rotating.

The SAF/SAP series is also available with axial shifting (manual or motorized) for more precise positioning on the reel. They have a stroke of +/- 25 mm and can be supplied with fixtures arranged for Re brakes.
