The RotoGrip core chuck is a torque-activated core chuck that automatically expands to grip the inner core diameter as the roll unwinds. As torque increases, the jaws expand further and grip the core harder. The chuck lifts and centers the roll for smooth unwinding. These core chucks deliver outstanding performance, even in dusty environments. They are designed for heavy rolls and aggressive machine speeds.

CORE SIZES: Rotogrip chucks are available in single-diameter, double-diameter (step chuck), and modular quick-disconnect versions, depending on application requirements. When two core sizes are being used and distance between roll stand arms permits, step chucks are the perfect choice. If multiple core sizes are being used, the quick-disconnect version allows swapping chuck cages to accommodate various core sizes quickly and easily. 

CORE EJECTION: When the unwinder is already equipped with a core ejection system system, we can provide the chuck with an optional core ejection flange. When customers are looking for a self-contained core ejection system we can provide our “RotoMatic” (pneumatic piston) and “RotoSpring” (spring) versions of the chuck. These designs safely and automatically eject the core when the roll stand arms open.

The large surface area of the chuck’s jaws provides maximum grip while preventing damage to the roll cores. Subsequently, cores can be reused without a problem. The jaws are available in three finishes: smooth, grooved or carbide, to meet application requirements.

RotoGrip chucks are available in diameters ranging from 3″ to 12″ and can handle loads up to 24,800 lb force (110,000 N) per chuck, and torque values up to 11,800 ft-lbs (16,000 Nm) per chuck. The chuck’s mounting flange, centering, and end cap nose length can be customized, offering a versatile solution that adapts to all application requirements and makes retrofitting easy.
