SAF/SAP series axial movement safety chucks are also available with lateral shifting capability (manual or motorized) for more precise positioning of the roll. These chucks have a stroke of +/- 1 inch, and can be supplied with fixtures arranged for Re brakes.

Optional features are also possible. For example, for an additional layer of safety, two proximity sensors can be used to transmit the safety chucks’ opened/closed state to the machine PLC, making it impossible to start the machine with the safety chucks in the open position.

Another convenient option is to use a position proximity sensor so the machine can move the shaft into the right position to allow safety chuck opening. This operation does not require any operator intervention.

Axial movement safety chucks offer all of the same features as standard safety chucks (smooth sliding opening, automatic closing if faceplate is not manually closed, flange or foot-mount options, etc.).
