Air Expanding Strip Core Shafts
Strip core shafts are core holding devices that slide through a roll core to grip the core ID for unwinding or rewinding rolls of material. These core shafts can be supported on both ends, or cantilevered in narrow web applications. Depending on web application conditions (web speed, roll weight, etc.), shafts can be made with an aluminum or steel profile. Gripping element (strip) expansion occurs when air is introduced through a valve. The air inflates the bladders located beneath the strips and forces the strips outward to grip the inner diameter of the roll core. The shaft provides continuous grip force until air is released.
We produce standard strip core shafts in diameters ranging from 2″ to 12”, and in other diameters by request. All shafts are custom-made according to customer specifications, in virtually any length. Different kinds of strips, journals, and surface treatments are also available.
