Combiflex is the world’s most popular single-disc pneumatic brake for unwinders (unwind roll stands) in web processing applications. It was first produced in 1974, and has since become standard equipment on most OEM machinery in the corrugating, converting and printing industries. The brake is a critical part of web tension control systems. Properly controlled web tension reduces waste and yields maximum productivity and throughput.

Constant design improvements have made Re’s pneumatic brake the most efficient and coolest running brake on the market. Its housing design, special turbine disc engineering, and fan options ensure optimal heat dissipation in a small, self-contained package. A cool-running brake prolongs component life (including pads), reduces maintenance costs, and guarantees consistent end-product quality. Genuine Re pads last far longer than imitation brake pads.

The CX (Combiflex) brake is available in different sizes. The rotor diameter can range from 200mm to 500mm, and calipers can be added or removed easily to accommodate light duty and extremely heavy duty, aggressive applications. To fine tune and specify the brake even further, it is possible to choose the torque capability of each caliper (four different torque percentages are available), the strength of the fan, the type of pads, and the design of the hub.

The HP fan, specific for CX.250 and CX.300 sizes, further increases the heat dissipation and increases the life cycle of the pads. An optional “intelligent” EDM cover, equipped with a temperature sensor, automatically adjusts the fan speed to keep the brake running at the optimal temperature without wasting energy.
